Artist Samantha Collyer (an ceramicist and educator who has participated in many sculpture and ceramic shows around the country) and activist Howie Cooke (former trawlerman, sailor and tuna fisherman from New Zealand who began creating big oil paintings of whales in the mid 70s. He has dedicated his life to cetacean freedom ever since) visited the school on Wednesday 10th April to work with students in years 3-6 to make clay fish which will be part of the 'Community Fish Mosaic'.
Students in years 3-6 all got the opportunity to work with Samantha and create their own unique clay fish. Once they have been fired in the kiln, they will be used to mosaic the Torakina Beach amenities block. For photos of class 3/4C in action, visit the gallery here.
